Zip Line the Ancient Daintree Rainforest
At 43 years of age he’d never been on a holiday. “So where are you taking me exactly?” he asks.
It’s a place called Cape Tribulation in Far North Queensland. We will cross the Daintree River on a
car ferry pulled by cables and then wind through the oldest untouched rainforest on Earth. We will
stay at Wildwood in a treehouse completely off grid. It’s situated on an exotic fruit farm for us to
wander through and pick the ripe delights.
We wake and look at the beautiful mountain with the morning rain cleansing its peak. Drive
northwards to lay on secluded beaches, always with both eyes open (this is croc country). We
breathe in the clean air and marvel at the fact that we are here, this place where the rainforest
meets the reef. We walk the tracks, taken by surprise by a mature cassowary wandering out and
between us, close enough to reach out and touch……we know better!
The night time tours take this ancient wonder to a new level
We delight in the thrill of experiencing a zip line that spans the different layers of the rainforest.
This is my favourite place, one where I feel my complete connection to this Earth. The rain starts
again, lucky I am back at the treehouse sipping warm tea and listening to its melodious rhythm on the tin roof – Anita, Townsville, QLD, Australia
